Removing Dried Shampoo From Carpet
Hey ever body, this is my first post.
So as I was moving in to my new place my shampoo exploded on the carpet.
I spent about a half hour trying to pull it up with a washcloth and water to no avail.
Eventually I just gave up, "hey, it's shampoo, it's not gonna stain after all."
Today I stepped out of bed on to where the spill was and my feet were greeted by a starchy hard wadded mess of crusty dry shampoo.
Whoops!
Well it turns out that shampoo stains are actually "among the hardest stains to remove" according to Wikihow.
Double Whoops!
If any one can tell me the best way to resolve this issue I will be very grateful.

Mix white vinegar and baking soda together to form a paste. Then, work the paste into the carpet stain with an old toothbrush, or something similar. Let the paste dry; then vacuum up the baking soda, and the stain should be gone. You can treat it more than once, but I'm sure it's not gonna be necessary.
I hope I made you feel better. Oh,welcome in the forum.

Firstly Wipe the shampoo off as much as you can with a clean white cloth.
Then Pour a little water onto the affected area and blot the water with a dry cloth. Repeat the process until there are no more stains.
At last use hairdryer to blow dries the area.
Thanks,

Hey,
I guess this is a little late.
I just never got around to doing this until today...
Any way, I mixed vinegar+baking soda in a tin, and ta try, and worked it in to the dry, matted part of the carpet that had been hit with shampoo with an old toothbrush.
It seems to have had little or not effect. Am I doing something wrong?

While its not funny that you have to deal with a mess like that, its only funny to me because one of the first carpet jobs I have ever done professionally involved removing shampoo out of carpet. I was given a portable unit and an address. I got there and asked the customer right away "What is that??". Shampoo of course. I set the machine up, pre-sprayed all of the carpet to be cleaned and got to work. I got to the area where the shampoo was and just dived in. Not long after, the extractor shut down, and I noticed that bubbles were shooting out of the bottom. I didn't know it at that time, but as it turns out, the little ping pong ball in the extractors waste tank that is meant to shut it down when it becomes full, was being lifted by the shampoo bubbles, thereby making the extractor "think" that it was full.
Oops.... live and learn. HA!
