I will have to agree here reciprocal links can harm you if done in volume...

thank you! it's so silly to do it when you don't need to and it comes at a risk. i don't swap links yet i'm 2 result for one of the bigger keywords for my area, and i expect to be higher for others in the coming months without ever having to swap links. don't do it people. learn how to promote your website and it'll do just fine

Default Reciprocal links vs. one-way text links

Hi All,

Google is incredibly smart, and they are now penalizing websites that have too many reciprocal links (RL's), especially when they are on one page such as a links page. At some point, I'm sorry to say, your RL-building efforts might be for nothing, and possibly even damaging. One day your site may be on page one of the SERP and the next day you might not even be able to find it. Then you might find yourself going to all your RL friends and actually asking them to remove your link from their site.

One-way text links are what you're looking for, and you're also looking for links that are on do-follow pages. Here's a link (hey, a one-way text-link!) to a page that gives a good, concise explanation of the difference between do-follow and no-follow. It also has a link to a do-follow search engine.

Forums and blogs are great places to make one-way text links to your site, but please contribute something of value when you're adding a comment! I think we're all getting tired of reading forum comments that just say "Thanks for the great article!" and then lists 17 websites at the end of the comment.

Best,

Kit Schulte, Start Your Cleaning Business the Right Way!
