Default Start-up Marketing

I've looked around and see that word of mouth is the best advertising, however, when your a new start-up, you just can't seem to rely on it as much.

Any suggestions? Here is what I'm doing currently:

Car magnets
door hangers
community classifieds
website
craigslist
google
yahoo
tons of merchant circles and online directories
myspace
facebook
faxes

I am also planning a charity car wash that I'm hoping will get a plug in the paper and local radio.

It seems like a lot and I guess it is, keeps me busy, but I have only received 4 calls so far (all door hangers) and have only landed one job.

Any suggestions?

Hi,
In my point of view you are doing right think like giving advertisement in the newspaper and radio but one think that you are missing that quality of the job . Customer wants quality and you have to give the quality in the advertisement. For more information you can search my link.

It looks like you are doing a lot of advertising already and use different methods. Good job! Keep doing what you are doing! I think you will start to see results soon, especially after that charity car wash.
Please keep us posted about how charity influenced your business. I've never done that myself and I would like to hear from you if it helped you to attract new customers.

Which of your current marketing methods seems to get you the most leads? And which gets you the least? Also, which cost the most and which costs the least?

you will probably find that after you have been marketing for awhile, word of mouth will spread and you can ease up a little on the advertising etc. However, that activity should never really stop even when you are busy as branding your business is also very important.

Default Blue Fish Cleaners

Hi Blue Fish, checking out your website it looks like you provide a vast array of services. Thinking about your branding, what do you want people to know about you? On your advertisements do you specify what kind of cleaning you do? When I hear the words "cleaners" I think about dry cleaners also. Maybe you could name yourself "Blue Fish Cleaning Service", "Blue Fish Cleaning Contractors", or "Blue Fish Property Maintenance." What kind of SEO (search engine optimization) have you done so far? What about Google places? I, myself, get most of my customers from door-to-door handing brochure distributing and from search engine results. To get good results from google you will need to have plenty of backlinks and pages with good keyword ratios. I use my services along with the geographic areas I am targeting as my primary keyword. Kepp up the good work, a new business takes time to start. I have been in the same position..... one day wondering why all the hard work I have done hasn't yielded any results and the next being overwhelmed with work.
