Software recommendations
Hi, I'm looking for any type of software you use/have used for keeping track of receipts (is this even necessary?), customers, etc. I have a Palm pilot Life drive that customers information goes into now.

No, that was the price that was given to me. I went to the web site and that was the price they gave me. Use your money as leverage when you are ready to buy. Give Brian O'Toole a call he was my contact. If you go to there web site and request a free info book its called "Service CEO for Dummies"

I plan to start my cleaning business. So I don`t like to spend much money on software programs. I found some business software which is free for those that have less than 20 customers. Is it enough for my startup?

MaidEasy software has features such as customer database, customer schedule, customized workorders, scheduling, quality control, Invoicing, reporting, percentage and hourly pay, milage, payroll proof and other features. There is a monthly fee so if you quit your business or decide you don't want it after a while you can cancel. It costs $79.00 and includes software support, future releases, training videos and online internet support. They have a free trial for 30 days and don't take your payment information until you are finished with the trial so you will not be billed until you agree to the service.

Re: software
We also use QuickBooks Pro. I've found that it's the easiest accounting software to learn to use.

Software I use on a daily basis to run my business:
Accounting- Quickbooks.
For scheduling - Google Calendar (has nice reminder set up to send out to customers)
Communication - MS Office (Outlook, word, Excel) & Google voice (has a nice feature to transcribe all voicemails)
and finally my phone. I can honestly say that my phone is my computer most times. I use it to call, email, write estimates when out of the office and love today's technology!

Hi everyone,
I have been using The Scheduling Manager software from Thoughtful Systems and it has been great! It includes scheduling, customer info, accounting, mapping, payroll and comes with a powerful e-mail module for marketing and a Quickbooks interface. If anyone is currently seeking a great software, I highly recommend The Scheduling Manager.
