You would not catch me doing that. I guess I'm a whimp but I'd be the one to find the shallow area for sure.

It was 95 feet of water. Pretty safe jump.

That reminds me of a swim call we had on a Navy vessel I was on .
We had been out for a while without a port call and the crew was getting a bit spastic so the captain had a swim call. A group of people decided they wanted more adnenture so the dived off the 2nd then third deck. Then three of them decided to make it even more interestng and climbed the mast and made a 140 foot dive. One of them backed down and the other two took the plunge. After that dive they were on the Mast ready to go again when the Watch Officer stopped them and ordred them down. The first guy said "Yes Sir" and turned an dove, before the second could jump the officer changed his order to Climb down from there. I don't guess they have swim calls anymore.

The ship that happened on was USS BARRY DD 933 (my first ship) home port Greece and Florida, now a monument in Washington. USS THORN DD 988 hp SC, USS COCHRANE DD-21 hp Japan, USS FLETCHER DD-992 hp San Diago, USS VINCENNES CG-48 hp San Diago, USS TISDALE FFG-27 hp San Diago. I spent 14years at ships 1 year at schools and 5 years at shore duty twenty years in all from 1973 to 1994. It was a good life but I like staying home now.

Russ - yep a good rush with a big splat if you are not ready to hit.
