Default Roof size

I found this in the research I did a few years back when I started doing roofs thought it would help some others. Can't remimber where I got it from. But it is accuate.
For slopes of *****multiple the area by
4:12 ***************1.054
6:12 ***************1.118
8:12 ***************1.202
10:12 **************1.302
12:12 **************1.414

The slope of the roof is expressed as Rise:Run. A 4:12 roof rises 4 units vertically for each 12 units horizontally. This can be reasonably estimated by holding a ruler or tape measure at arms length while viewing the roof from the ground (from a distance, so that the angle up to the roof is not effecting the apparent ratio).

Very helpful, thanks. I always muliplied by 1.3, I guess it was close. I also know of some who suggested multiplying by 1.5 according to your info that would be way to much.

Someone should write a quick calculator for that. It would probably be pretty easy.
