Carpet Re-Stretching

How many of you offer carpet re-stretching?

We started offering it, since there is a big demand in my area. When the housing market was in full swing, they were building houses at a super fast pace. I think they just hired people off of the street and asked if they would help install carpet. I doubt any of them used a powerstretcher.

We charge an hourly rate for this service, since we don't know what we are going to walk into, sometimes. We have been getting a lot of calls for this service.

I also own part of a company on Long Island. We don't see as nearly as many rippling carpets. When we do, we refer the stretching to a few carpet places to take care of it. I have yet to find a carpet place by me, in NC, that works to my standards.

carpet stretching

Its very rare that I will need a power stretcher. I have done a lot of carpet stretching and most of the time I will just use a knee kicker. Many water damage jobs. Long time ago had an apartment hall that was 80 feet long. Now that one really needed a power stretcher. I ended up with 14 inches of carpet at the end. Normally I will just cut a quarter to half an inch. I clean the carpets I have stretched each year and they hold up very well.
