Cleaning carpet in the winter

For the guys up north, do you shut down during the winter?
Do people get their carpet cleaned during the winter?

In Texas we see an influx in business right around the last two weeks of Christmas and generate close to $10,000 in sales per day. too much fruit cake on the carpets I guess.

I am curious about how busy the FAR north guys can stay. It is perfect here right now, 70-75 and it feels like spring I love spring cleaning . When it does get really cold though, I feel like things slow down. Last year was hellacious it rained forever! It was good for the restoration guys, but bad for us.

The trendy time for you to have a carpet cleaned is within the spring. While somebody may very well should wait approximately about three months in spring for an appointment, the snowy time is substantially more open up. As a rule, any individual will surely have a alternative of times. A rug that gets a therapy in the off-season is not as much possible to grow mold. This is because it will require not as much time for your flooring covering to dry.

I don't see why it would be that much more of an issue

I can totally imagine it would be a total pain in the butt carpet cleaning when it is 15 degree's outside. Here in California we wine because the water we are filling up with is 45 degree's (end up loosing a couple of degrees of heat) i ended up installing a pre-heater to negate this drop in temp during the winter. I would suspect that if you were in Michigan you wouldn't even be able to let lines sit with water in them for more than 10 minutes without freezing and bursting a hose. My hat is off to all the carpet cleaners that deal with this kind of situation.

I can totally imagine that it would be easier to pick up the commercial stuff in the winter. Do you guys use portables in the winter? It seems like it would be a bit easier to drag a portable in then to keep a machine running in the freezing cold. I have no concept of what it is like to live and work in the cold as I live on the coast.

Jeez, that's be pretty harsh having to miss out on a few months work over the cold period. Especially when people are tracking mud all over their carpets

A lot of guys install space heaters in their van to keep everything toasty. I learned the hard way not to leave portable extractors in the van at night when the temps drop - brass fittings will crack. If you don't have a garage and are parking your van outside, you can install a couple of space heaters in the van and plug the van in at night. You can reinforce the vans insulation and drill a small hole for a plugin and insulate around the hole to make it air tight. For day-time operation where you don't want to plug the van in, you could put a couple propane heaters in the van. I wouldn't worry about the lines though if you are running super hot water through them - they won't freeze.

I feel like most homeowners would want to wait until the spring to clean carpets just so they know they are done with tracking in winter messes. Salt and sand from the roads, wet and muddy boots-why clean your carpet mid-winter when you know it's going to need to be redone in a few months?

I am glad that I am not any further north than I am.

Depending on the weather residential business can slow down here in Janaury and February.

Carpet cleaning basically done spring season and this the best time for the carpet cleaning. In winter the carpet cleaning is quite tough and all the professional companies always prefer the spring for the carpet cleaning.

It is now winter and some people think that they will now have to wait until next spring to have their carpets cleaned - NOT SO as winter has low humidity which is as critical in drying times as temperature.

What you really want to avoid is waiting too long to clean your carpet. Spots from summer will become more and more prevalent as the months turn into fall.

I have wondered this to as I have run my company from day 1 in sunny warm southern California. I feel for the guys in the cold climates in the winter. We at mission viejo carpet cleaning thankfully never really have to experience those harsh types of winters nor the huge drop in clients I'm sure they see.
