How to remove bad odours from furniture

Here are some tips that you might find useful in removing bad and unpleasant odour from your furniture.

  • Check the manufacturer's instructions label for cleaning. Some labels use a code to indicate what type of cleaning method is safe to use for that type of fabric. "W" indicates water-based cleaning products such as upholstery shampoo or mild detergent. "S" indicates a solvent such as dry cleaning products or rubbing alcohol. "WS" means you can use either water- or solvent-based cleaning products. "X" tells you not to use any cleaning products on the fabric.

  • Simply letting your furniture air out keep away your furniture from musty smell.

  • Baking Soda also keeps bad odour away. Sprinkle baking soda on your furniture for 30 minutes. After that Vacuum it up.

Bacteria and germs can permeate porous wood causing awful “old-smell” odors. To eliminate the smell, kill the bacteria and germs by cleaning the inside of the drawers and all surfaces with a sponge dampened with vinegar, then let dry in a well ventilated area.

The upholstery attracts odors from pets, spills, and daily use. Regular cleaning and maintenance the furniture is important if there are pets and children in your home.
Some tips to remove bad odors.
Vacuum the sofa with an upholstery brush attachment on a vacuum cleaner. Remove all dust, hair, and debris. Remove cushions, if possible, and vacuum both sides.

Sprinkle baking soda on the upholstered areas of the sofa.

Food items can leave behind rotten odors while even water can create a musty odor. Use a clean towel to soak as much liquid from the sofa as possible.
