"William James, a psychologist in the 1800s, once metaphorically used the idea of 10% of the brain being all that was used at one time. This grew into the rumor that it was all the brain was overall and most of the rest was not understood or used as far as we know. Actually, the inactive neurons are just as important at any given moment as the ones actively firing at a point in time, and the 10% comes from varying areas at different times."

Its an urban legend, heard of it as well. Haven't heard of study that will prove the myth.

Well it depends, we may use commonly 10% of our brain but I bet the rest of our brain is what obsorbs our talents.
Example:
Everyone speaks English / French / Spanish and can write - thats like a 10%.
The rest is like this: well 20% of people use the other part of the brain for, computers, engineering, mechanical.

We can't all be good at the same thing that 's what makes us all unique to make a choice.
