Carpet Cleaning Franchise - Is it worth it?

Hi Guys

I was doing a job in a big hotel. The hotel has hired few carpet cleaning companies to complete the project in 3 days because of its size. Over 400 rooms to be done. Small but dirty. Anyway. I own my own carpet cleaning company since 2007. I spend a good bit of money in SEO, links, articles, etc. I earn enough to feed my family and drive a great car.

While doing that job i was chatting with few carpet cleaning franchise owners and the stories i heard were shocking. One of the lads paid up 180k to get 2 areas with about 10k people. Those areas are not bad but not the areas where you can charge 80 euro to clean 1 bedroom. In average, they were making 5k per month but they were paying 2.5k to the franchise monthly. I thought that was mad because the franchise was not providing any work or leads. Just a name.

Another man paid up 80k for the franchise and 10k for some tools. This dude was in a bad financial situation because he had repayments of 3k per month and he was far from making that amount monthly.

I just wonder, do people actually make any money with all this big carpet cleaning franchises? I spend way less than those people and i make way more money without having to pay some corporation mad amounts of money. If they pass 50 jobs per week, it could work, but they dont.
