Expected Profits in Owning own Corp. Cleaning Biz

I am curious about the field. I love cleaning and I love working the night-shift. Something awesome about nights! Naturally, corporate cleaning seems like a good fit for me!

I have some reserve capital, and plenty of time and motivation on my hands. I am researching the field at this time, and gathering as much info as possible.

Can anyone tell me what to look out for, or offer up some pointers with regards to starting my own cleaning biz in the silicon valley OR Orange County (California)? There are TONS of huge money making corps in both sectors.

And what is a realistic expected net profit after getting up and running? Ideally, if busy enough, I'd like to have enough accounts to justify hiring a few cleaners on my staff, while I run the business from an office...and clean myself whenever necessary.

Thanks in advanced!

James

To be honest James, if you love cleaning and love the night shift you should just work for someone else. Owning a cleaning business really has nothing to do with cleaning but has everything to do with owning and running a business. Even if you want to be 1 guy that works for him self you will still have to do the same things a business with employees do. You will need to market your business. You will need to give bids. You will need to follow up. You will need to order your supplies. You will need to do all the paper work. And I'm sure I'm forgetting a thing or 3. And then being a 1 guy cleaning service on top of all that you will need to also clean.

Your goal as a business owner should be working ON the business not IN the business.....
