We're no longer members, but it seems like it was around $380. I'm not sure if it's priced the same across the board or if it varies in different areas.

Was that for a year membership? Do you get a lot of jobs from being a member?

It was for an annual membership. We didn't get anything from being a member, but others say they have.

We too were members for our first couple of years in business (18 - 20 years ago now). I have to say that we too recieved nothing from our membership. We never had need to utilize the consumer complaint resolution aspect of it, and the quarterly newspaper ad's cost extra to be included in on so we always passed. I deceided to quit after the second year when my data showed me that our fees were netting us nothing in terms of results.

September, I did $3400 in work from "I found you on the BBB site."

For us it has been a great tool in selling and marketing. For $370/yr, it has been worth it to be able to put the BBB symbol on cards, flyers, trucks, website etc.

Find out how many others are members in your area. That has alot to do with it. Also, residential work versus commercial will make a difference. Residential looks for members more often than commercial.

How soon did you see results from being a member?

LOL..... I do try to get the most from it.

Classic Cleaning.... I've been a member for 2 year now. The 2nd week I got a call from a Manager of an Apartment complex to come and bid exterior vinyl siding cleaning. I ask, "Where did you get my Name and number?" "BBB website" was his answer. That was a 10 hour job for 3 guys and grossed $3550. I decided then that my yearly fee was paid for the next 10 years.

Our BBB may be different. They list its members on the website and in a printed directory that gets distributed to about 200,000 locations. Also, around town, there are billboards that advertise that people do business with a BBB Member.

I can only guage how well it has helped based on whether or not they found me through the BBB. However, I believe there may be some sales that I got because I had the symbol on my proposal sheet. I can't really tell if it is an edge over another bid that might only be less than mine by $10.

For $370, I don't see how it can hurt unless you just really don't have the money to spare.

FWIW, I am the only Member in my area because the others don't want to come off that $370.
