Car upholstery

Hi there,

Any recommendations on a good fabric car seat cleaner? I have just bought a car with liquid stains on the rear seats.

Thanks in advance

keeping your car's upholstery clean is rather easy to do on your own.
Tidying regularly
1.Pick up after each car journey.
2.Vacuum often.

Stain removal
1.Remove stains immediately.
2.Use baking soda and water on vinyl seats to clean and polish them.
3.Use a standard vinegar, detergent and water mixture.
4.Make your own all-purpose upholstery cleaner as follows:

Make a 50-50 mix of water and washing up liquid in a jug or similar container.
Gently mix the liquid.
Empty the jug into a plant pressure sprayer (spray bottle) to give easy even coverage.
Spray any fabric upholstery from about 20cm away.
Rub the stain with soft brush. Use a microfiber to dry.
5.Buy a carpet or upholstery cleaner from your local retailer.

Armor All Carpet & Seat Foaming Cleaner

Price: 4.99
Size: 500ml
Contact: 0845 602 1995,

Unlike our champion, the Armor All cleaner relies on a dense foam to sink in and remove marks. Once the foam with its pleasant citrus smell has soaked, simply wipe with a damp cloth. We could see progress on the cloth, although it was just behind Comma on general grime. Fared better on the tough ink stain, where it was the best on test, and cleared the chocolate and most of the margarine. The one to go for if you prefer a foam cleaner.

Halfords Upholstery Cleaner

Price: 3.99
Size: 500ml
Contact: 0845 762 6625,

Our second commendation falls somewhere between the Comma and the Armor All as the Halfords trigger delivers a foamy spray. It needs to be left 30 seconds or so before you wipe with a damp cloth. Keenly priced pack claims a deep cleaning action, and we saw that it was a top performer on the long-term grime covering our scrapyard seat. Like the Comma, it found the ink hard going, but the chocolate and margarine were almost all removed.

Hi,

Amazing post. I'm glad that people are concerned about keeping their car clean, as not cleaning car can adversely affect your health. I have recently come across an article talking about how regular car cleaning improves your health and your family. A must read.
