Employee Drama
Hey all!
I have had an employee on an off for about 2 years. (She left for mat leave for a year and just got back in Sept.)
She has 10 years experience and prefers to clean on her own, so I have her doing consistent cleans at the same houses every week.
I learned recently that she has been leaving some of the homes early and when I asked her about it she just said "Only 10 minutes or so." A client then sent me, not only a time stamp, but a picture of her leaving the house 30 mins before the clean was scheduled to end. They sent another pic of her getting to the house early. So early, that she should have still been at the previous house for another hour!
I showed her the pictures and gave her a really stern talking to. Zero tolerance. Next time I see this, it's a write up. She understood and the conversation went well.
Not even 24 hours later I get an email from a client saying her stainless steel stove top is scratched to hell! When I asked the employee about it she said "I just used a microfibre cloth to clean it. And the client didn't leave stainless steel cleaner out so I couldn't polish it. So they are probably just streaks."
First of all, this girl has 10 years of various cleaning experience. If you looked for the stainless steel cleaner and couldn't find it, text me. I would have told her where it was. Secondly, those are clearly scratches all over the place. It's around the burners and knobs.
How do I deal with a cleaner that keeps trying to cover her tracks but is 30 years old - old enough to be able to say "Shoot, my bad, I did do that. It won't happen again."?
