Engineered Wood Flooring

Engineered Flooring is constructed of several layers of wood. It will usually consit of three different layers, a top hardwood layer, a core middle section and also a balancing bottom layer. All these are glued together under extreme pressure at 90 degree angles to each other,

The top layer is what gives the engineered floor is looks, this is a real hardwood layer which can vary in thickness from 0.7mm up to 6mm. The middle section is what give the floor its stability and strength and can be made from softwood, plywood or HDF. The bottom balancing layer will usually be made from softwood.

Engineered wood flooring works well in kitchens, basements, and bathrooms where light moisture might be present. Still, it doesn't hold up to really wet areas such as basements that flood frequently. Nor does it hold up to kids' bathrooms which, as you may know, tend to flood frequently.

I would never suggest putting wood flooring in a kitchen or a bathroom. Here in Florida, wood flooring must be installed on dry slabs. If not, water damage can and will occur to the flooring.

Due to using superior quality material and the advanced manufacturing techniques Mannington uses, their flooring is more stable and longer lasting than cheaper engineered floors found in bargain or Liquidator centers.
