Ink toner

the toner on a printer/fax exploded apparently, and i was expected to clean it up. i declined; there was a risk of a dust explosion and i do not have a mask to protect from respiratory dangers. also when i entered the room and got closer to the spill, i heard something like static in the air and then what i believe was an explosion, it was a very loud bang.

i left the floor and told the staff to hire a specialist to clean up their mess. did i do the right thing? it was a huuuge mess, the biggest ive ever seen. however i am worried i will get in trouble even though i was concerned for my health.

I have no idea how dangerous ink toner might be, but it certainly seems prudent to do more research before exposing anyone to it. Reminds me of the time an ex-employer sent me into a room filled with mold to do inventory before testing to see if it was potentially harmful...

I think you made the right choice! Let us know when they figure out what could cause ink toner to explode.
