Thoughts on quoting a small gym space

Hi all

I wanted to get some feedback on the price I should charge a client that has a small gym space (roughly 1000 feet). The client would like to have cleaning done once a week this would include the floors mopped+vacuumed, wipe down+ sanitize of gym and fitness equipment, & dust removal. It will take me 30 mins to get the the place and of course I will be providing the cleaning products and the equipment to get the job done. I would say it will take me about two and a half hours to clean the place thoroughly. Any thoughts?

Figure out an hourly rate to quote all jobs at first. That way if you think it will take you two hours you just multiply your rate by two. Add a little extra for travel time and supplies. Always quote a little bit longer than what you think it will take, that way as you get faster and more accustomed to the cleaning, it's like getting a pay raise because it takes less time to complete.

I tend to agree. You never know how difficult a cleaning job truly will be until you do it the first time! A place may appear sort of clean, but when you dig a bit deeper, you may find out it is not at all clean. I always err on the "dirty side" because often, I am correct.
I do offer new customers a slightly lower rate for the first couple cleanings, and make it clear that if they are pleased with my work, the rate will go up to my local market rate. This gives me the time to find out how difficult any job will be and know how to handle the hourly rate a lot better. People seem to like this plan and few have had difficulty paying my higher rate, once they see what a good job I do!
