Hiring the Right SEO specialist?

Nowadays, the word SEO has become so widely used that I see people using it so generically. It seems like anyone who is anyone says they do SEO. I've dealt with people that said they do SEO and really know less than me.

Does anyone know of a good place or what to look for when it comes to hiring an SEO consultant?

If you hire an 'SEO' consultant, be careful to make sure that they can rank you for words and phrases that matter. Some will rank you for 'long tail keywords' which don't matter. Ranking #1 for a phrase that nobody searches for is easy and stupid.

IE: I saw an SEO guy bragging that he ranked "two hour response plumber Austin Texas" but nobody types that. What you'd really want to rank for in that case is "Austin Plumbers". But the SEO agency wants to rank you for words that are easy, not the tough ones where the big ROI is.

So, if you hire an SEO agency, have somebody other than the agency make a report on the 75 keywords and phrases that are the most important for your business, then get the SEO agency to commit that they will get you ranked for at least 1/3 of those (the top 25). If they see 75, and you cut it to the top 25, they will know that you're not an idiot and that they can't take advantage of you.

Hiring SEO Expert

I have hired SEO & web designers from Guru.com. At guru.com you can look at their portfolios and see what comments that guru's customers have said about them. SEO EXPERT /COMPANY google that company or expert's name and see where they come up on the search such as bob smith seo expert new york new york. Does bob smith come up on the 1st page of the search results?
My opinion would be to learn some SEO basics, so if you decide to blog or write an article about your company you can get some Google Love from it.
This guy offers some FREE SEO courses to help you with the SEO basics.
This is just my experience on the SEO road. Brad BD Janitorial

hard to find one that is useful

SEO is the new snake oil. If you want to get someone else to do your SEO, just make sure you also learn the basics yourself so you can monitor their work and hold them accountable should they mess up your site.

Honestly hiring someone for SEO is a bit stressful. However if you yourself know the basics than you can route out all of the fakers. However many people overthink Search engine optimization. When looking to hire someone I would always ask for personal projects or references. Its not hard it's time consuming and if you dont do it right from the start all you will do is waste time. Ive been doing my own SEO and its going great, good luck.

its difficult to find the righ SEO company, but make sure to ask for PORTFOLIO, even go as far as verifying with the client that this is the company that did their site. Also try to get some kind of guarantee, make sure they dont spam sites and go through their SEO method first.

I just started a new thread, but here you go:

I am doing a shameless plug for my carpet cleaning web guy since he has hooked me up with a local lead generation solution and I am dominating my competition. The guy I work with is Bill Schultz and he and his wife own a digital marketing company in Wisconsin. I told him he could use me as a reference as long as he doesn't build out any additional solutions within a 45 mile radius of my service area. Since he has been so good to me I told him I would promote his business. He only works with two carpet cleaners every month. Here is a link that he sends to prospective customers in an area he goes into. If you need help growing your business and need a low cost solution for getting online and dominating online; I suggest you give me a call. Good Luck!

Full disclosure, he said he would give me $100 for anyone I send him. If you reach out to Bill, let me know so that I can get $100 from him

Good Luck!

Yes you have to be careful. Amny want money up front before you see results. There is a company called Rankpay, where you only pay once they get you in the top 10 or 20. Check them out.

I like it. See the results and your ranking before paying. That is a no risk situation.

Follow Google Guidelines

SEO services from most suppliers are ineffective. Some actually hurt your web site rankings (e.g. you can be penalized).

Follow Google's guidelines and you'll be doing yourself a favor.

Do a search in google for "google webmaster guidelines" and you'll see it. Note: Sorry I can't post the URL here as I am new to the forum.

It is not easy to hire the right SEO specialist because a lot of people nowadays offer these services. Even I am one of those who needs the SEO for online business success but at this moment I am not able to find any good seo consulting Los Angeles service. Hopefully will find a good one soon.

I use an SEO that specializes in local service companies like my window cleaning business and is local to my city. Results are excellent. Make sure whoever you use shows a return on investment that can be demonstrated and that they show you solid results they are producing for others.

A lot of people don't know what they are doing when it comes to SEO. You have to make sure they optimize the things you want to rank for plus the city. GMB is extremely important. For instance Carpet Cleaning in Daphne or you town might be a search term you want to rank for, along with several others.
