We are looking to offer pay per call advertising to the carpet cleaning industry and I wanted to see if I could get some feed back straight from the horses mouth so to speak.
Here is what we are doing:
- we run unbranded advertisements in local sources, such as register tape or news papers.
- These ads have an offer such as "$109 for five rooms" and have a local phone number on them.
- We forward the calls directly to a service provider (carpet cleaner) who has agreed to respect the offer on the ad
- We then bill the service provider $$ for each call that comes through our number that is longer than 1 minute
From the customers perspective the phone just rings with the service provider the have no idea we are in the middle. To the service provider it is a customer call. These are exclusive calls they are not split or shared in any way. We will survey customers to make sure our providers are quality.
The service provider can cap the cost or the number of calls they want to receive. In that case we can then send the calls to another provider that also agrees to the offer.
We have several tests we are running in different markets around the country.
I would appreciate any feedback. I am especially interested in what a fair cost per call would be, we made up some arbitrary costs for our test. And what are issues you can see that can help us provide better service to the carpet cleaners.
