Warning Especially To New People

About a month or so ago I posted an ad on Craigslist for help passing out flyers. I hired a couple of people, got the job done, I didn't take the ad down... so today I get an email from a lady that owns a flyer distribution company.

This lady says she can pass out 1000 flyers for $100. So I played along and asked some questions. So here is what I explained to her and I want YOU to know it too.

1000 flyers can NOT be passed out for $100!!

It takes a good 15 man hours to pass out 1000 flyers and that is if you know what you're doing with neighborhoods that have the houses close together. If I pay someone $8 an hour to pass flyers out and they do it MY way (my way is different than any others I've ever seen) it would cost $120 at a MINIMUM for labor.

So the bottom line is.... don't be scammed by someone that says they can pass out 1000 flyers for a low cost. They will try to tell you what ever it takes to get your money but it can NOT be done!

****************

Now with that said, there is a way to speed up the process of passing out flyers and that is my trade secret. I guarantee no one else does it.... ever. But even if I did it my secret way, it still only cuts the time by 1/3 so 1000 flyers still couldn't be passed out for $100 by a company to make a profit.

we really should get a thanks button here or something. This thread should probably be stickied for a few weeks or so.

What do you feel your conversion rate is using flyers?

For every 1000 you send out, how many calls will you receive?

Always go to a reputable company when seeking leaflet distribution. Find somebody with lots of positive reviews. New companies can now offer GPS tracking so you know leaflets are not just going in the bin.

You get what you pay for!

GPS does nothing. They will still throw them away if they want to.

I own a residential cleaning business. I like being paid the day of cleaning, I don't like waiting on pay therefore I never solicit for commercial jobs.

Not to mention that they are much harder to get and maintain.

I'd say the odds of getting a commercial account with a flyer would be slim to none IF that good.

I was actually thinking about hiring someone to pass out flyers and I advertised it on Craigslist and got a similar response and I thought it was way too good to be true. That being said, thank you for posting this!

I never hired people to pass out flyers for me because
I was always afraid they would end up in a dumpster
somewhere. It appears at least sometimes my suspicions
were correct.
