Increasing Site Speed

My site ranked relatively well with the google speed test, but I want to improve it, especially for the mobile side of things.

Does anyone know how to speed up a website? I was thinking of using a plugin for wordpress, but the one I tried gave my site issues so I stopped it.

1) Reduce the size of your images to the size used in a computer browser. Don't have 3000x1500 size images reduced to 600x300. It takes up bandwidth and processing.
2) Use png files sparingly. Better to us JPG's because they're inherently smaller.
3) If you use Wordpress, use a page cache plugin.
4) Test your hosting provider for speed. Some are terrible. Move if you have to.

I just tried your site whiteglovedmaid.com. It loaded terribly slow. Your site does not seem too overloaded with images or anything. I would guess that you're on a very cheap hosting provider.

Godaddy shared hosting. I would imagine that is part of the reason.

Biggest issue is that you're running too much Javascript. All the bounce in graphics and animated information is slowing you down. You can get away with that if you're on a fast server - but with shared hosting at godaddy - you're not going to do real well.

You have 20 JS scripts running on the front page alone. That's crazy. My site has ONE. And it's just to control the menubar in case it is displaying on a mobile phone.

Thanks for letting me know. Never would have known what javascript was on it or that it slowed webpages down. Shared hosting will have to stay for now as it is cheaper. Godaddy has been one of the best companies I have ever dealt with when it comes to customer support, but I'm really starting to consider some of the other options out there.
