Landing Pages

I know a lot of you guys purchase ads on the web either through online yellow pages or through some sort of cost per click campaign like Google Adwords or Yahoo Search Marketing. Depending on your area this can be a really effective way for you to generate leads for your business.
Anyways, I usually see these ads linking directly to a company's homepage and if your site is designed well and flows the way it needs to this can be great. But usually I think it's more effective to use landing pages for this targeted traffic.

So what is the difference?
Well, your website as a whole is designed to give a potential client everything they need to know about your company with pictures, service performed, etc.. It is also designed to be content rich so that search engines will see that you have a lot of relevant info rank you higher in search results.
Landing pages are designed to quickly give a potential client a few key pieces of information and then to give them a quick way to contact you. These pages are easy to use and very direct so there is no thinking involved as to what the next step should be.

Recently we had a new sponsor on ContractorTalk.com who used a landing page to receive the leads we sent to them. I think this is a great example of a very effective landing page: http://www.insightdirect.com/contractortalk.html

Is anyone here using landing pages? If not I'd be happy to answer any questions about them.

What Is A Landing Page?

what-is-a-landing-page-vs-a-website-home-page? landing pages have one major objective and one minor objective. The major goal for all your landing pages is to turn site visitors into leads.

What Is A Home Page?

Think about your home page like the front door of your home. People make judgments when they arrive at your home. They quickly look around to get to know you, and theyíre seeing if they can relate to whom you appear to be. Think: first impressions.

The above is from square2marketing.com

Landing page is any web page that a visitor can arrive at or “land” on. Mainly there are 2 basic types of landing page, Click Through and Lead Generation.
