Our company used quickbooks. There are also websites online, and company's can do it for you. But if funds are limited, then I suggest quickbooks. I hope it helps!

I notice this thread started back in November 2006, I hope he has his accounting program sorted out now.

Just for the record, I also have been using Quickbooks for well over a decade & a half.

Could never get my head around MYOB.

For customer bookings, etc; I use Quickens Customer Manager... BRILLIANT.

Shorty.

My thoughts exactly.

For anyone considering a custom package make sure you find others who are using it. Best is to find both new and long term users you can talk with.
The new people remember the frustration and the old timers how well it works for them. They are also aware of how good or bad support is.
Be aware of required maintenance contracts and custom programming charges.
This is a relatively small industry and $2500.00 for a custom package is on the low end. (I've written them)

Also remember that with something like Quickbooks or Peachtree and one of them new fangled thingies called pencil and paper, you can do a lot.

My suggestion: SalesVu

Best software: SalesVu, controls your sales, inventory, price lists and your employees movements from your iphone/ipad..it gathers all the information in your device. Integrates the operations and marketing activities for your business. It also stores your clients' history and their transactions..You can get it as an app or as a software from www.salesvu.com or from the itunes store..

I think it depends on how big your business is. Is you are relatively small, freshbooks is a good option. By small I mean 500k in revenue and less. From 500k to 1.2 million I would suggest Quickbooks. Anything over 1.2 Quickbooks will not be a viable option and I would suggest looking for a custom softwater application for your business. Hope that helps!

As per my review which is easy to use and easy to install is the best software. I think in which software you have knowledge is the good to use.

Does anyone use a program that has a calendar with the options of setting up reminders, follow ups and confirmations as well as being able to store contact information and track the jobs that need to be or have already been completed? Is this something that quickbooks allows or is it strictly contact/billing information?

We are so happy we finally managed to dump Quickbooks. They just doubled our annual fee and I have always had a thing for Intuit anyway. I felt stuck because I was afraid that if I used any other accounting software it would be missing features. I finally jumped off Quickbooks and onto Zoho. It is years better than quickbooks and a fraction of the cost. They have phenomenal 24/7 chat support. I couldn't be happier for my window cleaning business. And yes Zoho does a great job of keeping track of all our window cleaning customers in Seattle.
