Why You Should Be Using Google Analytics!

For the past 9 months I've been apart of a beta program for Google Analytics and I have to say it's AWESOME!
What is Google Analytics? It's a stats program that tracks your website traffic. It can give you detailed information on how many pageviews you get, how many unique visitors you have, what key words people are typing into search engines to find your site, what part of the country visitors are from and so much more. You can even refine searches to show one day or go back however far you want.
The interface takes a little getting used to but once you do it's powerful and the graphical layout makes things easy to understand.

There are even more reasons why you should be using this program though...
  • If you use Google Adwords to get leads for your business you can track the performance of your campaign with this program. You can even go as far as to track how many CPC leads request an estimate on your site and even what specific key word are leading to those requests.
  • The stats data is hosted by Google so if you ever move servers or hosts you don't loose all your previous data which has happened to me twice.
  • You can track up to 10 websites from a single account so you don't have to log into a bunch of different systems.
  • IT'S FREE!
The only downside I can think of is that in order for the system to work you need to add a small bit of code to the pages of your website. This isn't a problem for me and only took about 5 minutes but for some people this may be a technical challenge.

As of August 15th registration is now open to anyone who wants to join.
There are two ways to sign up. Either log into your Google Adwords account and click on "Analytics" or you can just go to the following link: http://www.google.com/analytics/sign_up.html

Good Luck!

I know this is an old post but I'll toss in my hat. I use it and it's great. They just started their beta version which seems more user friendly then the last version. I use it in conjunction with my regular stats and it's nice as you pointed out. FREEEEEEE....

Yea, I like the new beta but I'm also still getting used to it. I think long term it will be better but I was so used to the old version I'm still in shock a little.

You can still view the old reports for a while if you like but I'm just trying to get myself to learn it.

Hmmmm...it sounds just like what OfficeLive offers in their own web building system.

I have OfficeLive and those features are already built in. Thanks for sharing! I may have to go check it out and do a comparison.

I think that by using Google Analytics we can collect the information about total traffic towards our website.A seo expert always use this to get better results.

If you use AdWords, then link your account with GA and look under the [Advertising] reports in GA.

You should also check the paid traffic under [Traffic Sources] > [Search] > [Paid].

Additionally, if you use other forms of advertising, I would recommend you to tag your links and check the [Campaigns] reports that are under [Traffic Sources].

Great tool to let every thing know about your website. Through this we can easily analyze the website performance.

The new features in Google Analytics are nice. They've really improved it a lot. And it's free!

WebMaster Tools shows you how your site is doing. Analytics show you how certain words do across the world, Country, State, or even cities.

Google analytic is the most important tool for any webmaster or SEO as they can check the regular activity and user flow on their website, we can check from where we are getting the visits through which device or browser to through which keywords. In short we can check all the user behaviours by this tool.

Another useful feature of Google Analytics is to see where your search traffic is coming from. For instance your might be targeting "house cleaning texas" but Analytics might show you have a lot of traffic coming from "pet stain cleaning Texas". If this is this case then you can optimise your site to get even more traffic for this niche.
