Best way to clean off algae

So I have a friend who recently purchased a house that has algae on it. He was able to get it off the siding and gutters but he is not sure about the roof. He doesn't want to spend the money to replace it but it is an older roof. I believe he said 13 years old. What can he use to get it off without damaging the shingles?

if the roof looks damage, maybe best to replace the shingles? if not, I know someone that did this with a 50:50 solution of laundry detergent, bleach and water. He used a sprayer that can be found in any dollar store to spread the solution. Let it soak for a 30-45 mins and use a power washed to rinse it.

I have never experienced this, it's one of my neighbor. in which i got curious about it and asked
