Can I use bleach

Is there a formula for apple sauce just using regular bleach.
Can not find Sodium Hypochlorite
even at area pressure washing supply store. They have their own roof cleaning chemical that does not have any bleach and used for a house wash also.
Two pool supply stores only have ganualr shock.

thanks

Yes you can use regular household bleach, but you will have to adjust your mix based on it percentage of Sodium Hypochlorite.

Most house hold bleach found on shelves is about about 5-6% sodium hypochlorite where as, liquid chlorine can be anywhere from 10.5% to 15% depending on where you get it.

If you are trying to make apple sauce then the formula calls for 20-30 gallons
sodium hypo (10.5 pool chloro) mixed to 60-70 gallons water.

That will lower the ratio of sodium hypo lower than store shelf purchased bleach down at your supermarket.

You are going to get a nice tan if you are cleaning roofs with store bought bleach.

Sodium Hypochlorite is always better then store bleach. But IF you can find some really fresh store bleach, try it undiluted with a full cup of TSP per gallon.
Bleach or Sodium Hypochlorite always cleans better at higher PH Levels.
The TSP will increase the PH of the bleach, and make it clean better then Store Bleach alone.

Wait for a warm SUNNY Day to try it. These weak roof cleaning solutions must be given time to work. Give it at least 20 minutes between applications.
It might take several applications to get the roof clean.

IF you are going to be in the roof cleaning business for real, you really need to find a reliable source for Fresh, Sodium Hypochlorite.

This is what the gutters looked like during a 57 unit commercial roof cleaning in Tampa project that we recently completed. The peerless punch non pressure roof cleaning solution is the holy grail of emulsified roof cleaning solutions

I agree, plain old bleach is no good for safe roof cleaning or pressure cleaning. I'll try to find a link that I have seen before, that you can order 50 gallon drums of SH and have it delivered.

As a side note: we never clean roofs or siding and only use a pressure washer on flat work. We spray our soft wash roof mix on sidewalks and driveways before we use our surface cleaner to brighten it up though.

The original ďapple sauceĒ recipe has tsp in it as well. TSP isnít necessary to add in with SH and water mix.

Not to mention that TSP is illegal in many states due to it's phosphate content.

It can etch aluminum too. Get this, one of the reasons it's illegal in many areas is that it causes excessive algae blooms in water ways. Kind of ironic.

If you still want to alter the PH of your mix, you can always use TSP substitute. We don't bother with any of it.
