Do you clean skylights?

When you are cleaning a roof, do you clean their skylights?
If you do what do you use?
Do you charge extra for cleaning the skylights, or do you just include it in the service?

Yes, in fact when we are roof cleaning Tampa homes and buildings we always use a squirt of 409 on the skylight and wipe them clean.

Usually I send him up to clean them when I knock on the homeowners door before I present them the new clean roof. When they see my guy cleaning the skylight it makes it easier for them to write a check. A lot of the times they will throw a tip in at that time for going the extra mile.

We usually get around 100 in tips over the week...

We have a special surfactant mix we use just for skylights when cleaning tampa roofs
The roof cleaning chemical will streak the skylights we have found, so just spraying them with it is not enough.

I know that cleaning skylights is extra work but generally this will be included in normal roof cleaning mean you should not ask for extra charge for cleaning of skylights. According to me your client will be happy if you done their work without any cost for their extra work.

I agree that cleaning up skylights after a roof cleaning job is mandatory. If the roof cleaning solution dries on the skylights and left there for several days it could etch the skylight permanently.

We always clean any skylights directly after we finish cleaning the roof. This is an upsell generally.
