To start with gutter cleaning, you need to first scoop away debris left on it. By this I mean the dry debris. Take a hose and run water in high pressure. The left over dirt will be washed away. When you find that the water doesn't drain out freely, start cleaning the drainpipes. For areas with continuous rainfall, a stiff, scrub brush can be used to loosen the dirt and the remains can be washed away with water, in a similar way. Finally, the downspouts should be checked for rust, peeling paint and flaking and should be rectified.
