Tips

Thanks for the help! Although personally for the roof, I find it easier to just call in some professionals. The roof is the one place I cannot handle. Don't know how all you warriors do it! Haha

Cleaning roof is important to make roof new and make it moss and algae free. There are not many ways of roof cleaning. Pressure cleaning and chemical solutions are the only ways to clean roof.

It's best to [ as always ] follow the manufacturer's instructions for cleaning

I am Chuck Bergman Roof Cleaning and Pressure Washing.
I only clean roofs per roofing manufacturer instructions.
I have some of their websites listed on a page in my website, where you can click their live links and read what methods and chemicals they specify.
It's here:
http://www.bergmanpressurewashing.co...Specifics.html

You can also watch me do it below, on Youtube. I use a 5 gpm 60 psi 12 volt pump. After the manufacturer specified chemicals travel through 230' of 1/2" ID hose and out a 1/4" gun, it's about 40 psi. Even that is just for delivery of the mix,the 40 psi plays no part in cleaning-it's a "No Pressure" cleaning system:

Roof Cleaning and Treating Safety:The Advice Given In This

First of all, the foremost obvious risk related to roof cleansing is that the potential for a life-ending or life-altering fall. Many people wrongly presume that only two-story roofs are unsafe, but there are numberless people who are paralyzed or die by falling from single story.

Here are some basic roofer safety tips if you want to go up on your own roof. Please recall twice before getting on a roof and strongly consider using a professional instead. The guidance given here is not a complete guide to roof fall protection, but to some extent this is useful.

Hi Buddy!!

Thanks to you for sharing the information that is very helpful for cleaning roofs!! I agree with you Dean using Vacuum cleaner is the best way to get rid of dust.

My husband and I planning for a room addition project and decided to work with an architect during the room addition design phase. We have checked and consult with local building inspector to determine if there are any legal issues that could prevent you from building your room addition. Roofs play an important part when it comes to building an addition.

A room addition can improve your home life by giving family a specific, welcoming place to relax and enjoy each others' company.

Regards
Ruben

Great information but metal roofs can be a bit of a challenge especially an old metal roof.It tales a lot of effort to clean metal roofs because of the corrosion that can build up over time. Before cleaning any kind of roof it is always good to ensure your safety. Before stepping onto the roof make sure that you can reach every part of the roof with ease.If you need to scrape the paint off your roof make sure that you don’t use any metal instrument use a wire brush instead. You can clean the mold and mildew off the roof by mixing ½ cup of tri-sodium phosphate(TSP) in a gallon of water.Take a soft brush and dip it into the solution and scrub the area affected with mildew.Repeat the process until you make sure it is clean and then rinse the area throughly with water. You can clean the dirt and debbris with the help of a pressure washer.Though they are durable and can last for more than 20 years, most metal roofs can have multiple leaks. Here is a blog from royal york roofing that mentions some simple DIY steps to maintain your roof

Yes, and how very much more expensive oxygenated bleach is than the regular bleach the ARMA etc say to use, of course. Then, when they get other bids, that are all lower, they will understand the cost. But, if they do some online research, they will see that the ARMA and Gaf, Pabco and Corning etc, all say use regular bleach and none say oxygenated bleach.
So, it get's iffy, talking homeowners into not following manufacturer instructions.
