Roof Cleaning Extend the Life of Your Roof.

If you cleaned your Roof regularly it will extend the life of the Roof. Because The bacteria growth on your roof can really damage the Roof.
Use the pressure cleaning technique to remove all the moss and debris from the roof and preventing further damage.
And Inspect your roof regularly.

Keep the gutters clean to prevent unnecessary water damage that will cause the roofs to leak and moss growth inside the home.
Remove debris from the roof such as tree branches and leaves that will prevent water to flow freely.
Check for ice dams that may develop in winter when snow on the roof is partially melted.
Check the roofs if leaks are there.
Install gutter guards to keep the water to flow from the top to down.

Yes, it is true unwanted leaves and bird poop is disgusting thing to see and clean. It is a plight of every homeowner, but there is a solution for unwanted leaves. You can trim the branches of trees. And, bird poop permanent solution is yet to find.

One tip that I consistently follow is to ensure you clean your gutters out yearly. It's amazing what can get lodged in their throughout the year causing water to back up onto your roof and give more wear and tear to your shingles.

I worked with an Edmonton Roofing Company to replace my roof and this was one simple thing that they told me as my gutters were basically full of debris all around my house.

NEVER use pressure on a Roof. It can easily damage a Roof. It’s also not a great cleaning method. Roofing manufacturers prohibit that as well. You cannot extend the life of a Roof. What you mean is “maintain” the life of the Roof. Soft washing is the proper way to clean a Roof which will not damage it and it will last much longer.

Can you cut the close trees down. That will fix the leaves and less birds etc.

Cut the close trees down will solve the leaves and the birds may roost elsewhere.

As Ultimate stated, soft-washing is the way to go for bacteria/algae on shingles. The results can be fairly impressive/

I think it will depend on the KIND of roof one has. One of my homes here in Florida has a "tar and gravel" roof. Washing that just shortens its life by washing off all the gravel. That I found out the hard way.
