Ok I went and looked at a job today. It's about 1,100 sq ft of black and white tile.It looks like there has never been any wax put on it. So do I have to strip the floor before I wax it or just clean it real good? I thought I might run my floor scrubber over it and just get it clean and then wax it.This will be my first floor like this and I want to make sure it is done right.
I would hit it with a light solution of stripper just in case.
If it's relatively new tile it comes from the factory with a coating that must be stripped before finishing.
We use a buffer versus a stripping solution and then apply the wax. Sometimes you have to do several coats and then barnish (high speed barnish)(to give it a high gloss). You also need to give it at least 72 hours before barnishing. So estimate high on these jobs they are usually alot more work/time than folks thinks.
Good Luck.
