OH DUDE! That's TOO cool! You have a pirate smiley! LOL
He'll love it. He was a pirate at a theme party recently. Let me tell you, Captain Morgan and Jack Sparrow have some serious competition... MMMmmMMMMmm!

What's funny is that we have a part-time roommate who served in Iraq with my husband. He, too, was injured while serving in the desert. (that's not the funny part...read on...LOL) Well, his injury is that he has an above-knee amputation. The two of them were a hit at this party because our roommate wore a PEG LEG prosthetic and my husband let him borrow an eye patch. They had pirate hats, coats, leather pants, the works! Of course, my husband couldn't wear a peg leg, but the two of them together were a riot!

LOL

Although I should not laugh. My father had a chemical bomb explode in his face blinding him in completely in one eye and legally blind (20/200) in the other eye. So I know a little about what your husband has to go through in life wearing a patch.

I am so sorry to hear this, T. My husband copes with his injuries with humor. Having lost an eye, he will make comments that otherwise sound normal and make them funny, such as...."I'll keep an eye out for you" or "I've got my eye on you!" He deals with things better when he can incorporate laughter into it.

He has a t-shirt that says, "It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye....then "Hey! Free eyeball!" Sick on one side of the fence, but funny when a one-eyed guy wears it. LOL

His amputee friends tend to do the same thing with humor. There's a website that sells humorous t-shirts for amputees. I've never laughed so hard in my life reading some of those!
