Unhappy Hello - Introduction and question

Hi Everyone.

I've been cleaning houses now for a couple of years. I love what I do and get handsomely paid for a job well done. I am a perfectionist and get raves from all but one of my clients. Here is my question...

I got a call-back from this client last night. The problems were - dusting not done "properly" and two - count 'em TWO tiny tiny water spots on a mirror. When I arrived at her house there was a slight film of dust everywhere. It was way less dust than was there when I arrived that am.. and evenly distributed. Resettled dust. Never happened before and I hadn't done anything differently. But I had obviously dusted because there was far less than before - but she kept insisting that I hadn't dusted!! I must be really, really good if I can leave less dust than before and so evenly layered! We all have recently turned on our heating systems.. perhaps a filter issue??? (she would hear none of that) And of course, the spots on the mirror.. come on! (4 bath house, 2 tiny spots gimme a break)

I took her on about 6 months ago - she had gone thru numerous house cleaners... complained to me that no one cleans like her... um, of course that would be right. We offer clean, not perfection.

My question would be - what percentage of clients are this perfectionistic and this picky and how the heck do you deal with it??

Love this forum by the way.

Yeah, I'm close. I had a feeling about this woman from day one so I actually quoted her a bit higher than usual - my way of offsetting the "crazy" factor. I'll just continue as always... if she does it again I'll cut her loose and smile at the extra money I made.

Lord, she must drive her family nuts.
