Welcome Arthur

I used to travel quite a bit to the UK when I worked for a British firm.
The Queens Moat House (Mouse House) used to be my home away from home.

Where are you located?

Hello Arthur
My trips took me mostly to Manchester/Wilmsow, London and up to factories near Clitheroe and Burnley.

I worked for a small company called Umbro, ever heard of them?

Is Slough west of London, near Eton College?

Hi Drew,

Umbro, if you mean the sportwear manufacturer? i think everyone has heard of them.

Slough is near Eton college and Windsor castle.

Have you been to Eton?

I think I was on the pitch at Eton, just kicking a ball about. Im not sure, Is it more like what we in America would call a prep school, pre-college? If I remember correctly there were no girls at Eton.

When I was working at Umbro, someone from the UK division always drove us around to appointments/meeting or we took the train, so I donít always remember how we got to where we were going. It was always about soccer/football, we went to a lot of matches, retailers and factories.

Eton hasn't got any girls. It a school for the richer people of the UK, both Prince william and Harry went there.

So how did you go from working for Umbro to getting into the cleaning industry?

That could have been the place, it was 1989 or 90. No Royals that I recall. The guys from the UK office were getting feedback on new designs for the new line and seeding the market with free clothing. I guess thatís why they targeted wealthy kids, for their influence with peers.

How I got from Sporting Goods into this industry? Long story short. Greenville, SC where I live, used to be a hot bed for sporting goods companies, Adidas, Umbro Dunlop, Maxfli, Slazenger and many more were all once located in Greenville, SC.

Umbro USA division bought the parent company, Umbro UK/Worldwide from the Humphrey family. The sporting goods business market later changed in Greenville, I deiced to stay a travel to continue working in that industry. My wife asked me to close down my consulting business, travel less and help grow her construction services business. We are on the construction side of cleaning. All of her family and relatives are in the construction business.

Hi Ken,

Is there a big market in the US for construction cleans?

There's a few guys on our UK forum who work in the construction clean part of the industry. It would be interesting to see how things compare from the US to the UK.
I've done a couple of small new build cleans for some of the small contractors. It's not really my line or something i market towards.

Here's a web link to all the famous people that have attended Eton :
