Roof cleaning

What do use to clean roofs ?

I use to use chlorine but I heard there is something better that's safer to use around plants.

Chlorine is the only manufacturer recommended method for cleaning asphalt shingle roofs. Bagging gutters as well as having a guy on the ground watering will eliminate plant casualites.

Absolutely right. plant safety as well as property safety is in our hands. only move as fast as your ground guy can safely protect everything. never rush, thats when accidents happen.

and i'll mention this also, since i noticed we're under the pressure washing forum.... non pressure on roofs, dont wanna blast off the shingles. I have people even after talking to me and reading my brochures/flyers, etc, they will call and say when are you going to come pressure wash my roof lol.

Make sure the plants stay WET the entire time you're spraying. you'll need a ground guy for this as others have said. Also, roof anchors, harnesses, and no-slip boots will make your job a lot easier (and safer)!

We irrigate plants, grass and shrubs before we soft wash any house exterior or roof. Not only before but during and after. A good ground guy will save you from having to purchase and replace vegetation.

all the other roof cleaning products require some kind of pressure to remove the mold.. Some say let the rain do it, but try to collect on a roof that looks just as dirty as when you got there!

I picked up a pressure washer last year and had always wondered about roof cleaning. You can't always trust a Youtube video Didn't know about the chlorine, thanks!

There is often confusion with the terminology in the roof cleaning industry. Chlorine is actually a gas, what we use for roof cleaning is Sodium Hypochlorite otherwise know as bleach. For roof cleaning, it is common practice to use 12.5% Sodium Hypochlorite.

TSP is a strong cleaner (itís available at home centers and paint stores), but since you arenít scrubbing your roof with it, it mainly acts to reduce the surface tension and allow the bleach to soak in without running off the roof. Itís the bleach that actually kills the algae.

I think Pressure Roof Cleaning works very well also you can use sodium hypochlorite is the chemical name for bleach.

You can hire a local roof cleaning services who have the tools and know the techniques to remove garbage from your roof

Pressure cleaning is the best way to shed dirt, debris from roof. Chemical solution is also a good way to wash off mold, algae and to make roof new again.
