Bidding on Construction Jobs as well as Restoration jobs...

So I have decided to expand my residential service to possibly doing commercial and restoration jobs as well. I have already gotten several companines interested in me but I am sort of at a loss as to what to charge. As far as commercial goes I have started out at .15/sq ft but I am looking around and beginning to believe that I am cutting my own throat. I have several employees and I want to make sure they get paid well but in the mean while I want to make money as well. What is the going rate for this type of work? Thanks for your suggestions in advance.

15 cents is too low unless it is a large site. Restaurants are usually 30 cents. I placed a bid for a 55,000 sq ft Kohls and bid $9,500. About 20-25 cents may be ideal. If you can build a rapport with the contractor and verbally discuss rates, he/she may be able to give you some hints, and some even tell you their budget. A hotel with 102,00 sq ft informed be that their budget was 15 cents but you also have to consider that the floors are mainly carpeted and save time and labor costs.
