My carpet has been damaged from water, which I dropped on it. I didn't think that leaving it unattended will cause this much damage. The steps provided here will take time I think. I only get Sundays free time and I spend it for other things. My friend suggested to hire Professional Cleaners to do the job. Anyways, if I get time I'll try your way, otherwise I'll hire a Professional Cleaning Service.

Flood Damage Clean Up

Nasty odours of flood tends to remain for long time even after flood clean up.
But last time, I have used Hydra Bio Defence for after flood clean up, it had eliminated all bad odours and leaves an appealing cherry fragrance.

Flood damaged carpets

You can try get some of it out with a wet vac yourself but you should really be calling professional cleaners for the job which specialise in flood damage.
It could get expensive depending on the extent of damage it may be more worthwhile to just get it replaced. That's what I always tell our clients before we start any flood jobs.

For your situation, it may already be too late, this should be dealt with promptly before mold starts to set in.

How to Repair Water Damaged Carpet

It is advisable to hire a professional cleaner for this job. But if you still want to try it by yourself, here are some tips:-

- Prepare a solution of 1 gallon of water and 2 tablespoons of liquid bleach.
- If there's any furniture on the carpet, remove it to clear the area.
- Scrub the damaged area of the carpet using the solution.
- Cut through the carpet and padding around the affected area using a cutter or knife.
- Lift the carpet and remove the padding.
- Use large fans to blow air directly on the carpet.
