Need some advice-New

Good Afternoon,

I am intending on starting a very small commercial cleaning business by myself. My goal is to provide ongoing basic janitorial services to small offices/retail spaces (insurance, attorneys, small shops, maybe very small car dealerships, etc.) I already have my business license and a quote for insurance I just need to pull the trigger on.

My question is as follows: I want to do this business as an owner operator so I can control quality and make sure the job is done right. However, my wife and I just found out we are expecting our 3 child (for which we are greatly thankful and blessed!).

This means I am faced with the fact that in approximately 9 months I may be unavailable to clean when our child is born. I do not want to leave clients out to dry and I intend on doing what I tell them as written in some kind of agreement/contract.

How would you handle this situation? How does anyone take time off if they are truly owner-operated?

Is there some kind of alternative way I could clean that is less ongoing service and more of a "one-time cleaning" idea that I could still make enough money (such as commercial move outs, etc?)

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Thumbs up Home Cleaning Advice

Hi,

There are several ways through which you can tackle this situation like:
  1. You can do it yourself because you will get some time atleast 3-4 hours per day
  2. If you don't have time, you can delegate it to someone whom you can trust
  3. You can outsource it to other cleaning services
  4. AMC is the most important factor in cleaning business because you want to build customer relationship
Dont loose your clients because its hard to gain trust back.

HELP NEEDED: DAYCARE PRICING

Hi, i just started my cleaning business,(licensed, insured and bonded) and i got a prospect (daycare center) who is dissatisfied with their current cleaning service, the day care floor area is 14,066 sq ft, they have several rugs totaling an area of 1,787 sq ft. We will clean it 5 times a week, dusting, sweeping and mopping every night.

My questions are the following:

We live in Tampa, FL to give you more information.

How much should we charge per square foot (vinyl floors)?
How much should we charge per square foot for cleaning the carpets ?
Should we charge hourly also on top of the price for square footage? ( we are 2 employees/owners)
How much should we charge for stripping and waxing?, they want the vinyl floors stripped and waxed twice a year.

What formula should i use to take into account the frequency of the cleaning...3 times a week for example?

Thank you so much for your assistance, i definitely don't want to loose or come up high with my very first customer!, any help would be much appreciated.
