HI EVERYBODY!
BEEN A LITTLE WHILE SINCE I POSTED.
I NEED SOME INPUT.
WHAT IS THE BEST PRODUCT TO CLEAN BAMBOO FLOORS?? THE OWNER HAS HAD ME TRY 2 DIFFERENT CLEANERS. THE ONE I USED TODAY WAS REJUVINATE? I THINK IT MADE THE FLOOR SO CLOUDY AND LEFT A FILM, BUT THAT IS WHAT SHE WANTED ME TO USE, SO I USED IT. I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH THIS CLEANER. GIVE ME SOME SUGGESTIONS PLEASE. I LIKE MY HOUSES PERFECT AND I WAS SO AGGERVATED WITH THIS FLOOR TODAY. I JUST MOPPED IT, STOOD BACK AND LOOKED AT IT AND THEN WENT BYE BYE.
HELP!
HAVE A GOOD ONE!
THANKS!:)

I have one client with a bamboo floor and I absolutely love cleaning it. That is, except for having to vacuum up the hair from her 3 dogs (2 long-haired german shepherds and a little dog) and one cat.

She provides a wood floor cleaner from Bruce (it's in a green container...low sheen, something or other wood floor cleaner) and all I do is dampen a flat microbiber mop then spray the cleaner on the floor as I work. It removes all the dog slobber, spots, whatever and does not streak at all. Looks better than any other wood floor when I am finished.

She buys it in gallon containers from Costco. Not sure what flooring specialists will say about it but it works like a charm for me. She's been using it for years and there seems to be no build-up. Nice sheen to the floor.

just my 2 cents. anyone want to comment on this product? would love to hear if anyone else uses it.

Basicaly you can use the same many products for hardwood flooring to clean the bamboo floors, as long as it is of the non-alkaline variety and is not a wax.

Bamboo Floor

Thanks to all that gave me advice! I think I have figured Bamboo out.... I recently cleaned a very bad bamboo floor, it had a ton of build up in one area, i had tried everything... i thought the only thing i havent tried was the Magic Eraser, guess what? It worked great!!! i scrubbed the floor on my hands and knees, then mopped with a very damp microfiber pad. The floor looks brand new and the owners are begging me to them my secret! Cant do it!
Thank you all!
Have a GREAT weekend!

Thanks for your info. The area that i used the magic eraser on, needed to be sanded. it had so much buildup. It worked.

Has anyone used a steam mop on these types of floors? We have used steam mops on hard wood and it works good, although extensive use make the wood look "dry". Any more thoughts on this topic?
Thanks in advance.

How to Clean Bamboo Flooring

How Often to Clean Bamboo Flooring

Basic cleaning should be done on an as-needed basis depending on the traffic in a room. Daily cleaning may be appropriate for the kitchen, hallways, or a recreation room heavily used by children. Clean any spills immediately. Microfiber damp mopping should be done weekly.

What You Need

  • Supplies
  • Vacuum (felt head, without beater bar)
  • Broom with soft bristles
  • Dust bin
  • Microfiber mop
  • Mop bucket
  • Sponge or clean microfiber rag
  • Dry towel
  • Hardwood floor cleaner such as Bona (non-alkaline, non-abrasive, wax-free)
  • Distilled white vinegar
  • Waste basket

How to Clean Bamboo Flooring

Clean Spills

If you note any spills, immediately sop them up with a sponge or dry microfiber cloth. Barely dampen a soft cloth or sponge with water. Apply it to the spill area to wipe up remaining dirt. Dry the spill area with a soft towel.

Sweep or Vacuum

Use a soft-bristled broom, dust mop, or a vacuum that has a felt head (not a beater bar or hard head) to sweep up dirt any particulates. Dispose of debris into a waste can.

Clean Stains or Dried Spills

After sweeping or vacuuming, note any areas where there are stains or dried spills. Lightly dampen a microfiber cloth with water and rub the area with it to see if that is enough to remove it. If that doesn't remove it, use an approved hardwood cleaning solution to dampen the cloth. Gently rub the area to remove the stain or dried-on material. Dampen a clean cloth with a little water and wipe the area to remove any cleaning solution. Dry the area with a soft towel.

Damp Mopping

Damp mop with a hardwood-rated cleaner diluted per the instructions provided on the product. Dampen a hardwood-appropriate mop with the solution and wring it until it is just barely damp. Mop gently in a circular pattern. Wipe the floor dry with a clean, soft towel if there are any wet spots.

Heavy Cleaning

Prepare an approved hardwood cleaning solution per the instructions provided on the product. Dip a sponge or clean rag into the solution, then wring dry so that the material is only slightly damp. Apply the cleanser to all parts of the floor evenly. Do not allow it to pool or puddle. Wipe the floor dry with a dry towel to finish.

Your floor is now clean.
