Thanks everyone. I must now go to bed. Yes I did clean hoods from the the 22nd all the way till 7AM on the 23rd of my birthday. Up for over 36 hours and slept until about 1pm on my birthday and enjoyed the rest like a Zombie. Really though after never getting much sleep and being up for 48 hours at a time is nothing new.
I've been pretty much MIA lately and the reason has to do with your question above.
Directly answering, Fall Turkey Shotgun season opens on the 14th of October, but I usually don't use the hound for that. On the 28th the Pheasant, Quail, and Partridge season opens, this is when Petey really gets to shine. This will be his 12th consecutive seoson, he turned 11 years old earlier this summer.
My avatar is Petey and I sleeping at my folks' place on either Father's or Mother's day. He is about 92 pounds of birddeath in a grey package! easily the best upland game dog I've ever hunted with, much less owned.
Which brings me to my MIA status: First, business is good.:icon_wink: and Second...
The time finally came to get a young protege for Petey to train. Much as it pains me to admit it, he won't live forever. (You would not believe how hard it has been for me to come to grips with the telltale signs of his mortality.)
The pics are of the trainee: Oliver. He's about 40 pounds of trouble and cute tied up in a silver bag right now, but he is smart and eager to please, and that is what I look for in pups.
Here is a handful of pics of him taken in the last month or so.
