sweeping the porch without making downstairs neighbors mad

I have a deck, directly above another family's deck... But whenever I sweep, all of the dust and debris falls through the spaces between the wood and lands on their tables and chairs below me. How can I still sweep but avoid making their deck a huge mess, every time??

The porch floor is made of wood panels, with about 1/2 inch spaces in between them. I feel terrible getting their porch messy, but the sweeping needs to be done!!

Thanks

A previously painted surface should be cleaned with TSP. If mildew is present, remove it with a bleach and water solution. Rinse thoroughly after removing the mildew and allow the porch to dry completely. Scrape or sand the surface free of any loose or flaking paint. A pole sander may help you with this part of the job. Clean the porch floor Damp Mop to thoroughly remove any dust created by the sanding.

Hmmm

I would also probably opt for the vacuuming option first but I am sure they understand that you cannot help the cracks in the deck. It is great you are concerned about their feelings but I am sure if it were too big of a problem they would come talk to you about it :) Best of luck!
